SPECIALISED SERVICES

  • FLYING INSECT CONTROL

Successfully controlling flies requires a comprehensive approach. Yet despite the best efforts, some flies may still manage to get inside. Redlands Pest Control can customize a fly control program to meet your facility's special needs.

Services to help you successfully control flies can include:

  • Recommendations for you to take to minimize fly invasions
  • Recommending specific sanitation practices
  • Specifying areas where exclusion efforts (caulking, weather stripping) are needed
  • Providing a plan for the location of insect light traps (ILTs)
  • Recommending drain applications as needed
  • Providing regular exterior treatment as needed

Insect Light Traps (ILTs)

Flies are attracted to ultraviolet (UV) light. ILTs use special UV bulbs that are highly effective at attracting flies. Flies attracted to an ILT are then captured by a glue trap or a catch tray.

Based on your facility, as well as government regulations affecting your industry, your Redlands Pest Control service professional will help you determine the proper type and placement of ILTs in your facility.

  • Wall Mount- Most flies generally fly within five feet of the floor. We will place wall mounted ILTs low on a wall to be within a fly's "line of sight."
  • Ceiling Mount-Night-flying insects fly higher. Ceiling mounted ILTs are also good for areas with narrow hallways where a wall unit may be obtrusive.
  • Free Standing-For shelves and counters, free-standing ILTs offer greater flexibility in placement.
  • Wall Sconce-Decorative ILT can be placed in public areas such as the dining rooms or public areas of hospitals and hotels.

Fly Control Tips

Flies that are attracted to the outside your facility are more likely to move inside. Here are some tips to help control the presence of flies around your business:

  • Keep outside rubbish areas clean and discard garbage in plastic bags whenever possible.
  • Place rubbish as far from the building as possible to keep flies away from your door.
  • Install self-closing devices on doors or use screens or strip curtains where appropriate.
  • Keep doors and windows closed whenever possible.
  • Make sure that all edges of doors and windows have tight weather stripping.
  • Carefully clean drains and floor cracks where food and water can collect.

ALL FOOD PREPATION AND RETAIL PREMISES SHOULD BE PROTECTED AGAINST FLIES.

The flying insect encountered in urban & industrial premises can be of many types, including various species of flies, yellow jackets or wasps & some stored moths.  The pests are the ones that:
